NFL player prop data methodology

Fieldwork aggregates pregame NFL player prop markets from DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM and BetRivers through The Odds API. The same centrally collected, stored observations power the interactive board and its server-rendered pages. Visiting or crawling a page does not trigger sportsbook collection.

Consensus and coverage

For a standard Over/Under market, each eligible sportsbook contributes one line only when both Over and Under prices are present. Fieldwork takes the median of those lines. Alternate lines never replace a missing standard market. Three or more contributing books constitute normal coverage; two are LIMITED COVERAGE and one is SINGLE BOOK. Book count is coverage, not statistical confidence.

Actual and derived Expected Yards

For RBs, Expected Yards uses an actual rushing-plus-receiving market when available. Otherwise, an explicitly marked derived value may use the median of same-book rushing-plus-receiving sums. We never add unrelated sportsbook consensuses. Adding two market thresholds does not create a sportsbook combined line or a mathematical expected value.

For WRs and TEs, Expected Yards means receiving yards. The FLEX board is a fantasy-research comparison lens, not a claim that receiving yards and total yards are identical markets. QBs are ranked separately by passing yards on the ALL overview.

Freshness and missing markets

Each quote retains its sportsbook timestamp, our receipt time and a verification deadline aligned with the approved collection schedule. Old source records, expired quotes, ambiguous identities and incomplete pairs are excluded. Games close in the current view at kickoff. UNAVAILABLE means a market disappeared from a successful complete response; the feed does not reliably distinguish suspension from permanent removal. Missing values are never filled with projections.

Movement and history

Movement compares the current eligible books with those same books’ first tracked lines. Tracked open is not necessarily the book’s original opening line, and movement is not automatically a 24-hour change. Observations are append-only. Historical views replay a labeled saved observation rather than representing a current offer or necessarily the final closing line.

Anytime TD displays a representative current Yes price, prioritizing DraftKings, then FanDuel, BetMGM and BetRivers. It is not a median American price, a no-vig touchdown probability, or an Over/Under consensus. Click the value to inspect its source.

Identity and corrections

Canonical roster identities are validated against game, team and position. Unresolved or ambiguous matches remain quarantined rather than being attached to a similar name. Coverage depends on posted markets and feed availability; we do not claim every sportsbook offer is present.
